Notice of Special General Meeting, Sunday 8th October 11:00 am

As you may be aware from previous emails the allotment committee is going through some changes.

After being in place for quite a few years the officers of the committee are standing down. For various reasons we have all decided to make way for a new committee, who we believe will take Coney Green Drive forward and help it to thrive.

For this reason, our usual AGM will now be replaced on the 8th October by a Special General Meeting, solely to elect a new committee. The AGM will take place at a future date.

This special meeting will be run by our colleagues from the BDAC, who we thank very much for their help. Please find attached more information about the meeting from our local BDAC advisor Yvonne.

I would encourage you all to consider joining the committee, new members will be supported and it is a chance to make a positive difference to our allotments.

Best Wishes

Rules About November Bonfires

This is a reminder that bonfires can only be made in November. Here are the guidelines for our site.

1...  Like all allotment sites we are now only allowed bonfires in November.

2...  Bonfires are for the purpose of disease control, so please be mindful what you burn.

3...  Please be thoughtful to our Coney Green Drive neighbours, do not burn on windy days or inconvenience householders in any other way.

4...  We have specific times you can have a bonfire:

Monday - Friday   after 5pm

Saturday  after 1pm

Sunday  all day

5...  Please keep buckets/ water butts of water nearby in case your fire gets out of hand and always make sure the fire is out before you leave the allotments.

If you have any questions or need any advice speak to Paul.

Many thanks

Penny

Reminder of the rules for bonfires this  November

We are nearing November and here is a reminder of the times we at Coney Green Drive are allowed to have a bonfire:

Weekdays after 5pm

Saturday after 1pm

Sunday all day

Please remember:

Bonfires are for pest and disease control only

Take weather conditions into account before lighting a bonfire so the smoke does not drift over neighbouring gardens.

Lastly please don't leave bonfires unattended and keep water at hand so you can put the fire out in an emergency.

We appreciate your support

Allotment Society AGM Sunday October 17th 11:00-12:00

This will be our first in person AGM for a couple of years so it will be nice to get together again.

It will be taking place on Sunday 17th October, 11am to 12 noon by the Community Shed. We plan to meet outside and if it's wet put up the gazebo.

This is your chance to raise general issues and make comment about the allotments, in the past personal issues have been raised by plot holders and we would like to remind you that a public meeting is not the place to do this and you must follow the complaints procedure. We are happy to address all problems, but we are expected to do this in the proper manner and will not be discussing person issues at the AGM.

The Agenda can be found here.

Bonfires now only allowed in November

Hello Everyone,

We have been advised by BCC Allotments that the rule book has been amended. Rule 6.3 has been changed and from now on bonfires will only be permitted in November.

The reason given by Allotments and the BDAC is that this spring a vast amount of complains regarding bonfires were received. BCC Allotments felt that a total ban was the most appropriate response, but after consultation with the BDAC a compromise was reached that plot holders could continue to burn diseased materials at the end of the season. The agreement stresses that bonfires must be lit within the rules and with consideration to neighbouring properties, if this doesn't happen or complaints continue then a full ban will follow.

So, from now on bonfires are allowed in November only, week days after 5pm, Saturday after 1pm and all-day Sunday. Paul will be putting a copy of these times in the noticeboard.

We realise that some of you may find this inconvenient, but the rule has been changed and we all have to abide by The Allotment Rules.

Best Wishes
